BooKoo Arenacross Series heads to Reading, PA.
Ft. Worth, TX., (Jan. 4, 2007) – The Showdown in Cowtown lived up to its reputation last weekend at the BooKoo Arenacross Series held at the Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth. With the AMA Arenacross Series having a weekend off, arenacross riders from both the AMA Arenacross Series and the BooKoo Arenacross Championship Series went head-to-head on the Shane Schaefer designed track.
Four current and former arenacross champions help deliver close competition both Friday and Saturday nights; 2007 BooKoo Arenacross Series reining BooKoo Arenacross Champion Josh Demuth, reigning AMA Arenacross Champion Chad Johnson, former arenacross champion Robbie Reynard along with current BooKoo Arenacross point leader Darcy Lange.
FRIDAY, DEC 29
250 Pro – Brad Ripple on the GPS Racing Honda came out on top in the 250cc Pro Class and is considered one of the hottest riders on the BooKoo Arenacross Series. Michael Blose riding the Fun Center Suzuki rode hard to finish second with Zach Ames on the MDK Speed Honda rounding out the top three.
450 Pro – Take a win when the opportunity is there. With Darcy Lange, Michael Blose and Josh Woods running in the top three, the Red-X (no double) flag was displayed due to a downed rider. The top three leaders jumped the finish line catapult resulting in disqualifying the top three riders. Taking the win was Keith Johnson on the Bobby J’s Yamaha, second went to Robbie Reynard on the Reynard Modification Honda then came Tyler Bowers on the MDK Speed Honda.
SATURDAY, DEC 30
250 Pro – After failing to make a podium on Friday night, Darcy Lange was out to prove why he is the man on top in the BooKoo Arenacross title chase. Riding the Team Babbitt’s Kawasaki, Lange took the win after a hard fought battle. The third rider on the MDK Speed Honda team, Tiger Lacey moved up through the pack to take second. Getting back in arenacross form, Josh Woods on the Fun Center Suzuki made the final podium spot.
450 Pro – Jumping to an early lead, Robbie Reynard looked to set sails to take his first win of the weekend, in the meantime Lange and Demuth were moving up through the pack. At the halfway flags, Lange began to put a wheel on Reynard for the lead. Knowing Demuth was coming up fast; Lange made a move on Reynard to finally take the lead. The results put Lange taking his second win, Reynard hanging onto second with Demuth hanging on to third.
“After Friday night I had something to show everyone,” Lange commented. “In the 450 main the whoops became a challenge when chasing Reynard. I knew not to try and pass in the whoops because it was too risky, so I waited until the right opportunity in the right berm.”
Chad Johnson said, “It took a little while to get our bikes dialed in for the whoops and get a rhythm through the rhythm section. I saw Ripple doing that triple in and quad out but there was no way I was going to try that. But hey, we had a good time.”

The series now heads east this weekend to the Sovereign Center in Reading, PA., to complete half the 10-city tour. Fifteen year old Tyler Bowers only sits 4 points out of second in the series point standings behind red-hot Brad Ripple. Lange will still be the man to beat as he appears to have his program under control.
